The start of the design was the word “Lichtspiel” (play of light).
The human need of light originates from the night. The invention of electrified light made it possible to replace the day and the sun at night and within the dark seasons. Yet this invention had nothing to do with a play of light. Electric light is rather a static state in which darkness is replaced by a pretentious “ideal” light situation. Yet light can be way more than just “on” and “off”. Light is a diverse combination of various intensities and atmospheres, varying depending on the time of the day and year. Using the “light of seasons” one can individually adjust “the time of the day”, by adjusting the catch of the light and “the time of the year” by using different reflectors for different atmospheres.
